Plovdiv to build new bridge over the Maritsa river
A new bridge is to be built over the Maritsa river in Plovdiv, deputy mayor Alexander Darzhikov said on January 5 2012, presenting the capital construction investment programme for Bulgaria's second city. The new bridge will be on the west side of the railway bridge and will connect Bulgaria and Koprivshtitsa boulevards.
Three hundred thousand leva (about 150 000 euro) has been set aside for designing the bridge. Building the bridge will bring the number of bridges over the Maritsa in Plovdiv to seven, counting the rail and pedestrian bridges. The bridge will have at least two lanes in each direction and its cost currently is estimated at between 2.5 million and three million leva.
