Bulgarian construction sector improves in October 2011 - NSI
Bulgaria's construction output grew by 0.2 per cent in October 2011, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (NSI). The index also shows that the trend for year-on-year decline continues, the annual drop for October amounting to 9.5 per cent.
The seasonally adjusted figures showing that October was the third month of 2011 to bring a production increase in the sector. The other two months to end with growth were May and August.
Building construction, which includes residential and non-residential buildings, increased by 0.5 per cent on the month but was 3.6 per cent down on an annual basis.
The engineering portion of the index registered a month-on-month decline of 0.5 per cent and slumped 17.6 per cent compared to October 2010. The segment encompasses infrastructure building, which includes roads, bridges, pipelines and power transmission lines.
