Bulgaria to inform EC on progress with renewable energy act by end-Mar
Bulgaria's government will notify the European Commission of its progress in the implementation of the bloc's Renewable Energy Directive by the end of March, the economy ministry told Dnevnik in response to an inquiry.
Bulgaria was obliged to have implemented the Directive 2009/28/EC as national legislation by December 5, 2010. After skipping twice the vote on the draft law, the government sent the bill to parliament earlier in February.
The draft bill will be review by the parliamentary commission for economic policy on February 16.
Last Friday, the EC confirmed it had sent a letter to the government, informing it about the start of an infringement procedure against Bulgaria over the delay of the new renewable energy act.
