A system for video surveillance worth EUR 1.5 M will be introduced for Sofia's subway on Friday. Mayor Boyko Borissov will present the new, digital system, which will replace the outdated one that is currently in use. All eight metro stations that have already been opened will benefit from the new project.
Old cameras did not allow a quality long-distance transfer of video data, authorities say. With the new system, subway employees who are on duty will be able to monitor every activities on screen.
