The European Bank of Restoration and Development (EBRD) is planning to invest close to EUR 300 M in Bulgaria each year for the following five years. According to the bank's new 5-year strategy, EUR 550 M per year will go to Bulgaria and Romania. The EBRD wants to strengthen its presence in Bulgaria and it will create a fund for co-financing projects by Bulgarian municipalities, Finance Minister Plamen Oresharski said.
Oresharski met Sunday with EBRD president Jean Lemierre, and with other representatives of the bank. Afterwards Oresharski said that EBRD may give Bulgaria a loan for the "Transit Roads-5" project for building first and second class roads in the country that is worth EUR 380 M.
