The US has been ranked as the sixth foreign investor in Bulgaria, with USD 593 M entering the Balkan country so far. The country is placed right behind Austria, Greece, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands, the head of Bulgaria's investment agency Stoyan Stalev said during a Sofia work lunch with members of the US Chamber of Commerce. Most of the foreign investments in Bulgaria over the past years were targeted towards the areas of telecommunications, services and banking, Stalev added.
During the meeting US Ambassador John Beyrle awarded the vice president of American Standard Companies David Modi. The special award is given by the US State Secretary for corporate contributions. American Standard received the award for its investment and social policy in Bulgaria.
