Bulgaria's mountain resort of Pamporovo in the southeast has opened the new winter season late Saturday night. The number of tourists in the resort is expected to rise by 30% compared to the previous year. The amount of people who have already signed up with the tour operators and the ski vacation packets sold confirm the high expectations.
Most of the tourists in the resort would be from Ireland, the UK, Germany and Russia. The last two countries have registered a rise in the number of holidaymakers heading for Bulgaria.
Pamporovo starts the season with new hotels adding over 1,000 beds, three additional parking lots, ready to gather 90 automobiles, and a new snowplough. In order to accommodate all the skiers, the resort now offers four more tracks with a total length of five kilometers.
