British owners of Bulgarian properties double in past 4 years
The number of British citizens who have purchased properties in the Veliko Tarnovo area, in Northern Bulgaria, has jumped by 70% in the past four years while the number of Brits with houses on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast is up by 40%, Dnevnik learned from Andy Anderson who runs the local Stara Planina Property real estate agency.
Anderson said Brits are getting into the Bulgarian property market to get away from the overpriced market at home and to take advantage of investment opportunities with good upside potential.
He divides the buyers of Bulgarian properties into three categories:
- Pensioners moving to the temperate climate of the Balkan state to enjoy their retirement years;
- People who want to get away from it all and to get a fresh start by opening a bar, a hotel or a yoga center;
- and of course there are the savvy investor types who are in it to make a profit.
