Up to EUR 50 000 for Investments Related to the Implementation of the Eurostandards
Bulgarian small and medium-sized enterprises can receive a grant of up to EUR 50 000 for investments related to the implementation of the Eurostandards and requirements under a PHARE project carried out by the Ministry of Economy. Firms can apply for a grant under this project in the second half of the year. This was announced at the first training course for Bulgarian firms in absorbing EU funds under PHARE. The training course held in Plovdiv is organized by the Ministry of Economy and the Bulgarian Industrial Association and is the first of a series of courses offered to Bulgarian firms till the end of the year.
The total sum of the project “Support for the Competitiveness of Bulgarian Firms” is EUR 30 million, that will be negotiated under three financial memoranda and will be absorbed till 2009, Deputy Minister of Economy Evgenia Koldanova announced. The project provides also grants of up to EUR 5 000 for consultation services. The consultants will assess the enterprises and assist them in the development of business plans and in the concrete projects with which small and medium-sized enterprises will apply for investment under PHARE.
Nearly 500 Bulgarian firms are to be assisted with grants under the project.
Another project initiated by the Ministry of Economy aims at establishing pilot cluster models, announced Andrey Lalov, head of Coordination, Planning and Programmes department in the Directorate Pre-accession programmes and Projects. The project amounts to EUR 800 and provides support for two pilot cluster models.
The grant scheme for supporting clusters was put forward also under 2005 PHARE programme. At least 15 clusters are to be financially provided for, each amounting to EUR 250 000.
