BGN 33 million for Wall Insulation of School Buildings in 2005
BGN 33 million will be put into the wall insulation of school buildings. Budget 2005 provides for the reconstruction of about 150 schools. At its session, the government adopted Strategic Instructions for the implementation of projects for heat-efficient wall insulation of school buildings.
The document says that the wall insulation includes constructive stability of the building, removing leaks in the roof, and the walls, heating and water supply installations, additional heat wall insulation, woodwork repairs, easy access to buildings for children with disabilities.
The criteria for determining the eligible schools this year are the expenses for heating and electricity for the last years; secondary schools, vocational high schools and others in district and municipal centres, the existence of prepared projects or reconstruction research of the school.
The coordination and supervision over the implementation of the projects will be carried out by the Minister of Education and Science together with the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works and the Energy Minister. The proposals for the schools eligible for reconstruction in 2005 will be prepared by regional education inspectors and district councils for regional development. The respective district governor will be responsible for the implementation of the projects on a district level.
According to the National Statistical Institute in school year 2003/2004, there are 2 823 schools and vocational high schools in the country.
